Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Israel was examined by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination - which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination - at its 80th session, 13 February - 9 March 2012.

Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

Israel will be examined by the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) - which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights - at its 47th session, 14 November - 2 December 2011 in Geneva.

NGOs - including churches and related organizations - can submit written information in the form of a "parallel" report concerning the status of implementation of economic, social and cultural rights in Israel and the OPT. NGOs should deliver 25 copies of their report and summary to the secretariat a week prior to the session for distribution to Committee members. Where possible, it is useful to submit a summary of the report in all the working languages of the Committee. Communication regarding submissions to the Committee may be addressed to gro.rhcho|rcsec#gro.rhcho|rcsec.

Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women

Israel was examined by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) - which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women - at its 48th session, 17 January - 4 February 2011.

Human Rights Committee (civil and political rights)

Israel was examined by the UN Human Rights Committee (HRC) - which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of civil and political rights as defined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights - at its 99th session, 12-30 July 2010, in Geneva.

Committee on the Rights of the Child

Israel was examined by the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) - which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child - at its 53rd session, 11-29 January 2010 in Geneva, in relation to issues of children in armed conflict.

Committee Against Torture

Israel was examined by the UN Committee Against Torture (CAT) - which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment - at its 42nd session, 5-6 May 2009.

31 May 2010: The Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Mr. Richard Falk, urged the international community to bring to justice those responsible for the killing of the peace activist during the raid of a convoy of ships carrying aid.
