The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Cambodia, Mr Surya Prasad Subedi, visited Cambodia from 30 May to 3 June 2011.

The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia, Surya Prasad Subedi, carried out his fourth official visit in Cambodia from 15 to 24 February 2011.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for human rights in Cambodia (Mr Surya Prasad Subedi of Nepal, appointed on 25 March 2009) is mandated by the UN Secretary-General to monitor the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in the Cambodia, to help the Government and the Cambodian people in ensuring that the Cambodian laws and the standards accepted by the State are effectively observed, foster international cooperation in the field of human rights, and report annually to the UN Human Rights Council.

The Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Cambodia, Mr. Surya Prasad Subedi, conducted a mission to the country from 8 to 18 June 2010. A press release announcing the visit is available at: http://bit.ly/aBGwe6
